Authorities searching for missing Palatine man

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a 59-year-old Palatine man who left his home early Thursday reportedly distressed about personal matters.

According to Palatine police, Jeffrey MacDonald left his residence between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Thursday in a 2004 Red Mazda 6 station wagon with the license plate "COX 997."

Cmdr. Craig Lesselyoung said bank records indicate MacDonald stopped at a TCF Bank in Shorewood, near Joliet, at about 11:30 a.m.

According to police, MacDonald's family said they fear for his safety.
